SHORINJIRYU KENSHIN KARATEDO is above everything else, dedicated and commited to the study in empty-hand combat and self defense. Students are instructed and train in a wide variety of combative exercises. While mastering striking techniques, students also explore and train in the pricipals of Judo, Ken-jutsu, and Aiki-jutsu kihon. The classic quality and richness of SKK is clearly evident through the centuries old system of competition (Shiai). For Shiai matches, competitors wear molded body armour, the same as worn in the art of Kendo (bogu). As with traditional martial arts, following the art and practise of the warrior swordsman (Koryu Bushido). Scoring is awarded to the contestant who is first to successfully deliver & execute a qualifying technique (s); i.e. first to express technically, a complete presence of mind, body & spirit (kokoru). 

Change is assumed to be normal within the processes of development & evolution. Unfortunately this is the belief and mis-guided logic often used to feed and give excuse for the frenzy of change.

The SKK school - understand that assuming can be mis-leading -understands that development must be used only for improvement - understands that evolution is the process of adapting. 

The SKK school accepts the challenge for avoiding change for change's sake, and it is with constant effort that the philosophies, techniques, and essentials be maintained. 

The structure and foundation of The SKK school remain stedfast to the teachings of Kaiso Masayoshi Kori Hisataka (Seichi Kudaka - Okinawa), founder of Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo.
